The client approached Seriously Cinema as part of a competitive tender, inviting five specialist companies to design a home cinema within an unused top-floor loft space of their home. Their requirements were clear: high-quality, immersive audio, two rows of seating, and a system that would be simple and intuitive to control.
In addition to performance, the space needed to work hard. The client wanted the loft to deliver more than just a cinema — it also needed to incorporate a spare room and practical storage, all without detracting from the look or acoustic performance of the cinema itself.
We designed a fully bespoke cinema layout that maximised the loft’s footprint while carefully managing sightlines, ceiling height, and acoustics. A tiered floor structure was introduced to accommodate two rows of luxury seating, ensuring clear views of the screen from every seat.
To meet the client’s request for a clean, uncluttered finish, we created a custom fabric wall system that not only provides acoustic control, but also discreetly conceals doors leading to the spare room and storage areas — allowing the cinema to feel like a single, purpose-built space.
Audio performance is delivered by a Dolby Atmos 7.2.4 loudspeaker system, combining PMC Ci Series speakers for detailed, natural sound with M&K Sound 15” subwoofers positioned behind the screen for deep, cinematic bass. The system is designed to excel equally with movies and music.
For visuals and control, we specified Sony projection, Anthem processing, and Control4 integration, giving the client a powerful yet effortless user experience at the touch of a button.
The completed loft transformation delivers far more than a home cinema. The client now enjoys a fully immersive, reference-quality cinema space, complete with two rows of seating, exceptional sound, and a striking yet understated aesthetic.
Despite the technical complexity behind the scenes, the room feels calm, refined, and incredibly easy to use. Hidden doors blend seamlessly into the fabric walls, allowing the cinema, spare room, and storage areas to coexist without compromise.
Awarded against strong competition, this project is a testament to thoughtful design, careful execution, and attention to detail — and most importantly, a client who is genuinely over the moon with the end result.
