We were contacted by the owners of a new trendy restaurant that was due to open in Union Street London to tender for a high end audio system to provide 2 floors of audio inc bar and toilet areas. The audio system had to be designed to give a club vibe but not to be overbearing in any part of the restaurant so that patrons could till hear themselves speak. The restaurant is situated within a huge bare brick Victorian railway arch and a 2 storey window at one end running the width of the restaurant. No acoustic treatments wee allowed to be used. This was going to be a challenge.
After several initial site meetings, we specified a Bose Professional audio system, split into 3 independently controllable zones. It had to look and sound good as well as covering the entire restaurant with high quality audio.
The client is over the moon with the end result. Time Out Magazine have just reviewed Bala Baya and commented on how the restaurant had a trendy club atmosphere due to the audio but conversations were never difficult to hold.
